Canoe the bays and inlets of Lake Champlain remoivng water chestnut. Come and join in the fun! August 7, 12, 14, 19, 23, 26, 28 Aquatic water chestnut is an invasive plant that can wreak havoc on native species and interfere with recreation. Fortunately it is easy to pull and more than 2,500 volunteers have helped make a difference over the last 10 years. Join us for a day and find out why this volunteer activity is so vital, and so much fun! The days run from 9 to 3 and are a great opportunity to canoe and learn about wetlands. Spend a day at the Nursery Join us at the Native Plant Restoration Nursery, Whitehall, NY to help propagate trees for restoration plantings. Assist the Native Plant Nursery Grower with the planting and transplanting of native seeds and seedlings. Work includes: filling pots and seedling flats with soil mix; planting seeds in the pots or flats; preparing labels and labeling the pots and flats; transplanting seedlings to larger pots. Every Tuesday and Thursday May through August, 2008 - 3 hours in morning or afternoon.You can also call to schedule another day if these days don't work for you.
