Invasive species damage the lands and waters that native plants and animals need to thrive. They hurt economies and threaten human well-being.
Oregon’s natural landscapes are being damaged by invasive flora and fauna – non-native plants and animals that compete with our native species, endanger our forests, fields and waterways and jeopardize our economy.
The consequences are substantial. Non-indigenous species threaten nearly half of Oregon’s 958 at-risk or endangered species. And just 21 invasive weeds cause $83 million dollars of damage annually to Oregon businesses, in areas like forestry and agriculture.
That's why The Nature Conservancy has joined together with Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB), SOLV and other partners on “Stop the Invasion,” a statewide effort to inform and engage the public to curtail the dramatic impact of invasive species.
With your help, the Conservancy and our partners are
working to make a lasting difference for Oregon’s lands, waters and wildlife.
This unprecedented, year-long campaign to protect Oregon from invasive species launched in April with OPB's new documentary, "The Silent Invasion,"
We hope you'll join us in protecting Oregon from invasive species!
