New Preserve Protects Willamette Valley Habitats
The Nature Conservancy has established Yamhill Oaks, a new nature preserve in rolling hills west of McMinnville, to safeguard oak and prairie habitats increasingly at risk in the Willamette Valley. Learn more about the northern valley's first-ever protected area for the endangered Fender’s blue butterfly.
Beyond the Blasts
The recipe for restoring wetlands is simple: add water. Conservancy scientists used an innovative technique last fall to remove levees and restore historic marsh wetlands at Williamson River Delta Preserve on Upper Klamath Lake. See new video and photos of how explosives helped us reclaim a wetland and restore two endangered fish — and the progress since.
The Power to Save Oregon's Salmon
You care about the Earth so you recycle, drive as little as possible and, perhaps, buy green power. But did you know your electric bill can help protect and restore salmon habitats in Oregon? Contributions go into the Salmon Habitat Fund, which The Nature Conservancy distributes to cost-effective on-the-ground projects. Sign up today, and help save Oregon’s salmon!

Invasive Species
Step into the Limelight
Oregon is beset with invasive species. But there is hope. The Nature Conservancy is working with partners on "Stop the Invasion," a year-long public awareness and action campaign to counter the environmental and economic threat of invasives in Oregon. Learn all about it and what you can do to help slow the spread of invasives in our Spring Newsletter. Our Volunteer Newsletter with work parties, classifieds and trainings was the issue's insert.
