Who are The Young Professionals?

The Nature Conservancy’s Young Professionals Group (YPG) brings together a cross-section of the city’s brightest men and women who share a love of nature, a concern for the environment, and a belief that hope and action are indispensable to make a difference.  Our goal in New York is to ensure that our peers and the next generation of New Yorkers learn about and participate in conservation activities at a local, regional and global level

We host events throughout the year, including hikes, preserve trips, and cocktail parties in Manhattan.  Many of our activities are open to anyone who is interested, though we also hold a number of exclusive members-only events, including preserve trips and events hosted by Conservancy Trustees.  To view some of our past events, please click here, or view photos on our Flickr page.

How Can I Join the Young Professionals Group?

We welcome anyone who is interested in conservation to join us at our events throughout the year.  However, please note that because many times our activities -- especially trips -- have limited capacity, current members of the YPG will receive first notification, and in some cases only current YPG members will be eligible to sign up.

YPG Membership is defined as being a donor to The Nature Conservancy at $100 or more.  Your gift is fully tax-deductible, and you will receive all the standard benefits of becoming a Conservancy member in addition to extra benefits as a member of the Young Professionals Group.  If you're interested in becoming a YP Member, please download our membership form (.pdf,  89kb) or sign up online!  If you'd like to join the mailing list or would like more information, please contact Ben Nissim at bnissim@tnc.org or  (212) 381-2183 .

By becoming a YP Member, you will not only have access to all YP events but will also be invited to join one or more YP Committees. These committees provide an opportunity to become directly involved in our efforts by helping to guide the direction of the YPG and to plan our activities, and can also help determine whether a position as a YP Board Member might be the next step.

Young Professionals Group

The Young Professionals Board
The YP Board is a group of dedicated volunteers who work to broaden awareness of and support for the YPG among our peers. Among the criteria for election to this group is familiarity with and commitment to The Nature Conservancy and its Young Professionals Group. Admission to the Board is by invitation only; for more information, please contact Evelyn Chen at echen@tnc.org. To view a list of our current YP Board members, please click here.

The Young Professionals Committees
The YPG’s activities are also heavily guided by the involvement of four YP committees, in the areas of Development, Conservation, Events, and Membership & Media.  These committees are open to anyone who is a current YP member.  YP Committees meet regularly throughout the year and are chaired by YP Board Members.
