At 10,330 acres, the Vickie Bunnell Preserve is the Conservancy's largest nature preserve in the state. Located in Columbia and Stratford, it includes 3,723-foot Bunnell Mountain and 12 other peaks above 3,000 feet. It contains 28 miles of stream frontage, and the high elevation areas contain significant alpine and sub-alpine spruce-fir forest habitat. The preserve is a portion of the Conservancy's larger 18,680-acre "Bunnell Tract."
The preserve is open to the public for hiking, bird watching, nature study, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing, and snow-shoeing.

Peter Benson, the Conservancy's Northern New Hampshire Program Manager, measures a large, old balsam fir on a portion of old growth forest on the Vickie Bunnell Preserve. |
