George Folkerts, a professor of Zoology at Auburn University, and one of the first Trustees of the Alabama Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, has passed away. He was a mentor and inspiration to many people whose lives he touched — he loved teaching and believed passionately in the value of studying natural history and biodiversity, and the urgent need to protect our natural areas across the state and the world.
